Highwood Estate Capital partners with a limited number of high caliber emerging and established alternative investment managers to help them craft their message, develop their marketing materials and reach their fundraising goals. By taking on the work of finding and engaging prospective investors, we free up an asset manager's time and resources to focus on managing their investment portfolios.
Before taking on an engagement, Highwood Estate Capital performs due diligence on the manager, their strategy and their operations. We will only take on a mandate to help raise capital if we believe that a manager upholds ethical standards, and the strategy can be expected to generate positive returns and add value to a portfolio.
When we approach investors, our goal is to understand their investment goals and risk tolerance, and then find and introduce the appropriate manager for their consideration. If a manager is selected by an investor, Highwood Estate Capital is compensated for its efforts through a share of the manager's fees. There is no expense to the investor for our services.

Highwood Estate Capital has an extensive pipeline of early-stage private companies seeking strategic growth capital. Our primary focus has been on companies in the technology and consumer spaces, with a pre-money valuation under $50 million. However we are industry agnostic as long as there is a strong and highly motivated management team that has developed a differentiated business model or product that is on the cusp of seeing significant and sustainable growth.
We offer companies help in crafting their message, developing their marketing materials and putting them in front of investors. Our ultimate goal is to find and introduce strategic investors that could serve as advisors or board members for these companies.
ABOUT US
MICHAEL H. RISKIND
Prior to forming Highwood Estate Capital, Mr. Riskind spent 14 years in institutional equity sales and trading at UBS Investment Bank, KeyBanc Capital Markets and BB&T Capital Markets. During that time as an equity salesperson at UBS and then as the Head of Equity Sales and Trading at KeyBanc and BB&T, he built relationships with many of the most successful US hedge fund and long-only portfolio managers and their analyst teams.
With the founding of Highwood Estate Capital, Mr. Riskind is now partnering with several of his former investment management clients to help them grow their existing capital base, and in some cases establish their own asset management firms and raise outside capital. Mr. Riskind is also working with a select number of early stage private companies to help them raise capital to fund their growth strategies.
Mr. Riskind received a BA in Government and International Relations from Cornell University and a MBA with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University.
